  • If you know what you are wanting to get, click here to book in your next tattoo!

The best way to keep up to date with all booking info is to check out my instagram @chloemoontattoo.
In my instagram bio you will see whether my books are currently open or closed.
I also have a booking highlights that shows my current booking process and any extra important booking info!

  • A non- refundable $100 deposit is required to be payed to confirm and lock in all appointments.

Please only apply for a booking spot if you are able to pay your deposit right away. If you are unable to pay your deposit just yet, perhaps wait until my next round of bookings.

  • You can view my current price guide in my highlights over at @chloemoontattoo

My tattoos are priced per piece rather than an hourly fee, which means I will always give an exact quote for approval when you book before taking a deposit. The cost of your tattoo will only change if changes are made on the day- for example if you'd like it to be larger, or certain changes to placement (Leg to tummy). Prices will be impacted by things like: Style, complexity of design, materials used, machines used, amount of saturation, size of the piece, and also a rough idea of how long the tattoo will take. Prices will also be impacted by location on the body; with tummy, ribs, inner forearms being more expensive. This is because these areas are more complex to tattoo and also take a lot longer due to the stretch of the skin (In some cases a design will double in size when stretched to tattoo!)
My prices all include GST (10%) and also go towards covering lots of other aspects of being a sole trader: sick leave, taking care of my body (physio/ osteo etc), and time spent designing.
If you ever have any questions about pricing, please feel free to get in touch!

  • I offer flash sessions as full or half days. These sessions are perfect for people who; like to be impulsive & choose flash on the day, want to plan out larger sticker sleeves, want to fill out areas or awkward gaps, or are wanting to get lots of flash in one sitting!
During these sessions we will sit down and do a quick consult to talk about your plans, ideas and choose flash from my flash book; which is often updated weekly. We will then tattoo as much flash as we can in the session for a flat price!
The amount of flash we get tattooed will depend on; placement, design size, design complexity, style (colour, dot work, black traditional), and how long it takes to choose flash. These sessions workout to be a hot deal for you and a super cute time!
Some people book these sessions to work on entire sleeves, and often spend a good amount of time of their first session in the consult stage; planning and mapping out their entire sleeve. In this case, We may only get a couple of pieces tattooed in the first session, but then can jump straight into tattooing in their next sessions!

  • All of my flash are repeatable pieces which means they can be tattooed more than once. If you would like a unique piece, I’m always happy to customise flash pieces for you! When designing a flash piece, I keep in mind things like line weight, shading, detail and contrast to make sure each piece is readable and will stand the test of time. For this reason all of my flash is set size, and I may not be able to change the scale without removing or adding detail. When booking flash, I always give discounts if you book multiple pieces!

  • I absolutely love tattooing portraits, but am quite picky when it comes to what portrait tattoos I say yes to. My main goal when tattooing a portrait is to make sure it looks as accurate to the person as possible, which means there are quite a few criteria for the pieces I book in:

    • A super high quality + high contrast reference image: the perfect images have dramatic contrast with shadows and highlights, and often are facing a little to the side (not front on). This is crucial to be sure a face is recognisable when transformed into tattoo. I usually ask for 5 photos you’d be happy with getting tattooed, and from there I will pick the one I think will translate best. I will only tattoo from one reference image, and won’t combine images- This is to remove any guess work.

    • A light or white background: This is because there needs to be a good contrast around the edge of the portrait to create a suggested outline or border to the tattoo.

    • I often don’t take on portraits of family members: this is mainly because it is very rare someone will have a good reference photo (as mentioned above).

    • I Don’t tattoo micro portraits. Most of my portrait tattoos sit anywhere between 10-20cm! This is because of the needle size I use.

    • I will only tattoo portraits on inner forearms, or front + backs of thighs: This is because these areas are quite wide, flat and have little to no wrap! We want to make sure the portrait looks true to the person and isn’t warped.

  • I ask for 48 hours notice if you are unable to attend your tattoo appointment, and will happily offer to transfer your deposit to a rescheduled session.

If you cancel within this 48 hours, there is a good chance I won't be able to take the risk in booking you in future, and I'll be unable to honour your deposit. Exceptions will of course be made for extreme circumstances.

Once your deposit is payed, the design/s you've booked are also locked in. This means you won't be able to make major changes to the designs you've booked in. If you have any concerns about your design or booking, please get in touch as soon as possible.

  • If you are sick in any way, no matter how mild your symptoms, please let me know. I have chronic health issues, so please do not arrive to your appointment with any symptoms without getting in touch with me first.
If I feel it best to reschedule our session and you have given 24 hours notice, then I will happily honour your deposit and it will be carried over to your new booking! If it is within the 24 hour window, I will honour your deposit only if I am able to fill your spot.
If you arrive to your appointment sick without getting in touch with me prior, I will have to send you home and you will lose your deposit.

tattooing | process

  • When you book in for your tattoo, I will give you info on my studio location.
When you arrive, I will generally come meet you and bring you up to our private studio space.

Neighbourhood Tattoo Store is a small private studio with two stations and a cute table area.
Usually we will spend a little bit of time having a chat and getting to know eachother, while discussing what we are working on.

Once we've discussed your tattoos, I will give you a QR code to fill out our online consent form, while I finish setting up.
When the consent form has been submitted, I’ll bring you over to our tattoo station. Here we will have another look at the design together in the mirror before putting on the stencil. Once we’ve picked the perfect spot you may have to get changed into other clothes or adjust clothing to allow access to the area of skin we will be tattooing. If you need to change, we have private non gendered bathrooms.

When placing the stencil I will put on some gloves and use some paper towel and sanitiser to clean the area of skin that will be tattooed. I will then use soap, paper towel and a razor to wash + shave the area. After I’ve patted the skin dry with more paper towel, I will apply some stencil “glue” to the skin using my gloved hand, and rub to spread it accross the skin until it has absorbed enough to leave a sticky consistency. Sometimes if too much stencil glue has been applied, it can take a lil longer to rub in and get to the perfect sticky consistency. I will then place the stencil onto the skin. To get the perfect stencil I will often put one hand over the stencil and press- Sometimes I may have to use my other hand to support you while the stencil is being pressed on. For example, if I am placing a stencil on the front of your thigh I will use one hand to press on the stencil, and with the other hand I may need to press the back of your thigh for extra support.

Once the stencil is on, I will explain or even show you how you will be positioned for your tattoo. Depending on the position, like areas of the torso, we may not be able to chat much throughout the tattoo- but I will explain this during this time.

Once you are in position I will get ready to start. Depending on the machines I use, some are quite loud, and I’ll invite you to pop in some headphones if it makes you more comfy throughout the tattoo.

When I start the tattoo I will apply some vaseline on the stencil first and will tattoo a small line to start. I’ll ask how you feel and if it was okay before I continue the tattoo. Consent is an ongoing process, so at this point I’ll often mention that if you feel uncomfy at any point, for any reason, to let me know and I’ll stop, and we can have a break, stretch, chat or anything you need before continuing.

Throughout the tattoo I will explain to you what I’m doing, which may include: what machine I’m using, what to expect from different techniques (shading, colour etc), how they may feel, when I’m washing my machine, or if I need a stretch break!

Once the tattoo is finished, I’ll give it a good wash with soap and paper towel. Some people LOVE this part and say it feels cold and soothing, other people say it stings. Once it’s all clean, I’ll rub some cream over the surface, move my things out of your way so you can stand up safely and have a look at your fresh new tattoo in the mirror!

At this point I’ll ask if it’s okay if I take a photo, nd will show you the photos I take!

Lastly, I will give your tattoo another good wash, pop some cream on it, and wrap it tightly with glad wrap and medical tape. I’ll then go over aftercare with you, and invite you to ask any questions.

Now is time for payment- at my studio you pay directly to me after our tattoo session. I only accept cash.

After payment has been made, it’s time to start the rest of your day feeling your best self, strutting your stuff, with your brand new tattoo!

  • Here is a lil checklist of what I like to do before a new tattoo to help myself feel my best, and also to help my tattooist too:

    • Taking care of personal hygiene before a tattoo session: Getting tattooed can be a pretty sweaty experience even in a cool space, so having a shower and popping on some deodorant helps me feel and smell my best before a tattoo- but also helps me stay comfy during!

    • Don’t shave: A lot of people will shave to help out their tattooist- which is super sweet- but it’s actually best if you let them do it for you. The reason we shave the area before tattooing is to remove anything that may clog the needle and restrict ink flow during the tattoo- this includes hair + dry or dead skin cells! Shaving can actually cause a build up of dry skin and so even if a client comes in freshly shaved, I usually still give it another once over! Shaving can also cause shaving rash- not ideal for you or a new tatt!

    • Get cash out a couple days before: Some banks have a daily withdraw limit so, depending on your quote, you may have to do two withdrawals over a couple of days. Try to avoid the morning of rush- your body doesn’t need the extra stress today!

    • Be sure to get a good nights sleep: This will help SO much with pain management, nausea, fatigue and energy on the day!

    • No alcohol or drugs in the days leading up to your tattoo: Same as above- your body needs to feel it’s best for the tattoo and for healing!

    • Stay hydrated: Your skin is one of the last organs to feel the effects of whatever you put in your body- this can take a couple of days! So drinking lots of water in the days leading up to your tattoo is so important. It will help your skin be in its best form for the tattoo process, but will also help a huge amount in the healing process.

    • Moisturise: Give your skin a lil extra TLC in the week leading up to your session- you and your tattoo will love you for it!

  • Aftercare is one of the most important parts of getting a new tattoo!

You can find a full step by step of my suggested aftercare here.

When you leave the studio, you are leaving with a really gnarly open wound- but that can be easy to forget when you look down and see a cool new picture on your skin. Keeping your tattoo covered + clean, but also taking extra special care of yourself and your body over the next few days can make a huge difference to the quality of your heal, but also will protect you from infection. Your body is dealing with a new foreign substance and a stress response when getting tattooed- so staying hydrated and getting enough sleep is just as important as keeping your new tatt clean and using aftercare cream in avoiding infection.

I tattoo anything from fully saturated colour, to stick and poke- The aftercare I use works great for all the styles I tattoo. It is also great for people of all skin types. All the products I suggest are for sensitive skin and I don’t recommend products that are common allergens. After your tattoo session I will go through aftercare thoroughly and will give you a take home print with detailed instructions.

If you ever have any questions regarding your healing tattoo- please feel free to reach out via email or instagram. (You will receive a quicker response via instagram).

  • Choosing the right thing to wear to a session can be so tricky! It all comes down to two important things- wearing something that allows enough access to the area you will be tattooed but, most importantly, that you are comfy for your session! There is ALWAYS an option or alternative if it means you will be more comfy. Often if tattooing a more revealing area I will also lay a medical pad over the area like a lil blanket so only the tattoo-able area is shown (like I’m doing surgery!)

Here are some common tricky spots:

    • Upper thigh: A loose skirt, dress, shorts or culottes

    • Ribs: A loose shirt- potentially avoid wearing a bra if it sits high on your side

    • Hip: A loose dress with bather bottoms with a tie on the side

    • Feet: Bring along some flip flops

    • Sternums: A bra with a front tie, a loose singlet or a shirt that buttons up the front which can be taped down. We also have nipple stickers at the studio for those who are comfy using them!

You are always welcome to bring along a change of clothes with you to change on arrival. If you have any concerns with what to wear or if there is anything I can do to help you feel more comfy, please let me know!

  • I don’t allow any of my designs or artwork to be tattooed by another artist. If you’d like to support me or collect some of my work, please feel free to look at my online store! Please get in touch if you have any questions regarding a specific piece.

  • If you'd like a custom piece based on another artists work, please be sure to attain permission or purchase the work from the artist before booking with me. If you have a reference image of something you'd like tattooed, but are unsure of the original artist, I won't be able to tattoo it for you. However, I can create something custom for you in my style, based on references.

  • For all custom pieces, you will see the design on the day. I don’t show the design in the days leading up to your appointment for many reasons including: I usually draw pieces the day before a session so they are fresh in my mind, I often have many other customs or drawings to be done before your session, personally I’m a super indecisive over thinker who would freak out seeing a design too far in advance, a tattoo is such a personal thing and we don’t want your loved ones offering their opinion and causing you confusion, and lastly, It’s more exciting this way! I love being able to sit down with you, do a big reveal + have a mini consult to discuss the design on the day!

  • That is totally okay! I ask sooo many Qs when booking in custom pieces to remove any uncertainty and questions in my mind. If I’m confused about your vision, then I’ll often ask more questions before I start the design. I allow time at the start of a session in case we need to make any minor changes. Major changes that stray from the original design brief, additions or new information not previously discussed may incur extra cost. If major changes are requested, there is a chance I may have to reschedule our session and a new deposit will need to be payed to cover the design time. Consent is an ongoing process, and I only want to tattoo pieces that people will love to get tattooed and love for years to come. If you change your mind on the day and no longer want to move forward with getting tattooed, that is okay, and your deposit will go towards covering my design time.

  • I do! I only use stick and poke when tattooing knuckles, eyelids and ears.

  • Personally I don’t accept tattoos on genitalia, or inner butt cheeks.

I also won’t tattoo any “job stopper” tatts (necks, face, heads, or hands) if you don’t have many tatts.

There are some placements that do come with extra risks of blowouts and drop outs (even for the most skilled tattooists) such as ribs, inner bicep, wrists, knuckles, palms of hands, feet etc. But I will always explain this before we start our tattoo.

  • Yep! They do- but they probably aren’t as bad as you’re thinking!

One of the most painful areas to get tattooed are tummys- especially because it often feels difficult to breathe. Personally I request clients use numbing cream when I tattoo tummys + ribs + backs as it can help so much with the entire tattoo process, including pain management. I’ve even had some clients fall asleep during tummy tatts because of using numbing cream!

Areas that hurt the most are the ones that are close to the most important stuff: Backs (spinal cord), Knees and elbows (joints), and torso (vital organs).

If you are super nervous- feel free to send me a message before our session and we can have a chat about options.

tattooing | Accessibility

  • Unfortunately our private studio is located upstairs and isn't physically accessible for all.
Neighbourhoos tattoo store is a small private studio made up of two stations and a communal table/ hang out zone.
Often I work one on one with my clients, but sometimes my lovely co-owner Emma is in doing some tattoos too.
We are located accross the road from Barkly Square in Brunswick- so very close to trams, the train station and also parking.

Noise: Our studio is very quiet, however my machines that I use to tattoo aren't. If you think they may be overstimulating, please feel free to bring along some headphones to your session.

Light: We have a beautiful big window (great for people watching) and also soft lighting throughout our space. During the tattoo process I use a large arched light that can be quite bright- sole of y clients love to wear some sunnies while getting tattooed.

Chat or zone out? I'm happy with both- feel free to let me know how you like to get tattooed if you have a preference! Some of my clients love a yarn, while others prefer to read or chuck some headphones in and watch a movie!

  • Most definitely! While Neighbourhood Tattoo Store is small, we love having welcoming people into the space. If they help you have a more comfy fun time, then that is fine by us! Just let us know when you know.

  • Being nervous or anxious before a tattoo is super natural- I’m a tattooist and have had many many tattoos, but still get super nervous before every one! Sometimes before a tattoo I like to do a meditation, or focus on my breathing and think about how good I’ll feel when I have my shiny new tattoo. If you are nervous about anything in particular before your session, please feel free to reach out and I will do my best to answer any and all Q’s and be your hype person! If there’s anything extra I can do to help you feel at ease, please let me know!

  • PARKING
There is parking accross from us at Barkly Square. Some spots have a 3 hour limit, so some clients like to move their car if they have a long session.

    PUBLIC TRANSPORT
You can take tram #19 to our studio. We are located 260m from the stop at Barkly Square/ Sydney Road at the corner of Weston Street and Sydney Road.

We are also located a 6 minute walk (450m) from Jewell Station on the Upfield Metro train line.
